Education Specialist

Shira is a dedicated educator with a strong commitment to creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments. With a background in both Multiple Subject and Special Education, she has a deep understanding of fostering diverse and engaging educational experiences. Currently, Shira serves as an Education Specialist at Latitude High School.

Before joining Latitude, Shira worked as a fourth-grade teacher and education specialist at High Tech High Elementary Explorer in San Diego, California. During her time there, she developed expertise in project design, social and emotional learning, and culturally responsive education. Shira also worked in Queenstown, NZ, where she played a key role in developing the High School English Language Arts curriculum and SEL framework for the Liger Leadership Academy. Her focus on authentic experiences and reflection empowers learners to take ownership of their educational journey.

In addition to her extensive teaching experience, Shira holds a bachelor’s degree in Gender and Feminist Studies from Pitzer College and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of San Diego. Originally from San Diego, California, she’s now excited to call the Bay Area her new home. Outside of school, Shira enjoys outdoor activities, good food, and spending time with friends and family.
