Mrs. Jenn Harechmak was born and raised in Hayward, just 20 minutes outside of Oakland. After graduating from high school, she went on to UC Davis to earn a B.S. in Aerospace Science & Engineering. Although she graduated with an engineering degree, the career never spoke to her, and she immediately became a math teacher at her former high school. She fell in love with connecting with young folks and seeing their faces light up as they gained more confidence in their own abilities. With this, Mrs. H started her credential program while teaching full time.
After earning her credential, Mrs. H enrolled in Holy Names University and obtained her Master of Arts in Urban Education in the Spring of 2023. Her coursework at HNU has shaped her views on education. Mrs. H believes that all students are capable of learning rigorous content with the support of teachers who they can relate to. Being the eldest daughter of two immigrant parents and the first of her family to go to college, Mrs. H understands some of the hardships that her students endure and the responsibilities that they may hold. She brings kindness and love to the classroom for her students, while still holding her students to high expectations.
Mrs. H’s own journey with education and her experience in how it improved her life makes her passionate about creating a curriculum for her students so that they can gain the skills and knowledge that will help them become successful adults. Mrs. H is excited to be at Latitude High where she is trusted to be able to make an impact on students’ lives through math and education.
