James is a passionate advocate for STEM education, believing in the possibility of creating a better world through empowering students with scientific knowledge and practical skills. He envisions a future where scientifically informed students build the foundations of tomorrow, guided by organized thinking, familiarity with scientific practices, and appreciation for the natural world. Rather than focusing solely on content, James prioritizes a classroom environment that prepares students for the challenges of our rapidly changing world.
Born in NYC but raised in northern California’s suburbs, James nurtured dreams of exploration and discovery. His life has taken him around the globe as a traveler, teacher, and performer, experiences that eventually led him to San Diego.
James received his B.A. in Molecular Biology and Immunology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also worked as a cancer researcher. He then embarked on a journey into education to pursue his M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning through High Tech High’s Graduate School of Education. He served as a student teacher at HTMMA, where he taught 8th grade math and science.
Following his time in San Diego, James worked for a year in the Oakland Unified School District, honing his teaching methods and engaging with a diverse student population. He now continues his commitment to STEM education at Latitude High, where he brings his unique blend of scientific expertise and educational innovation to inspire the next generation of learners.
