Anna believes every student is mathematically smart and brings their own unique understanding to problem solving. They prioritize relationships and a sense of belonging in their classroom, approaching students as multi-dimensional people, not just students in a classroom.
Anna was born in New York City and grew up in the suburbs in New Jersey. They went to college east of Los Angeles and moved to Oakland in 2011. Anna worked in restaurants as a line cook and sous chef for several years before returning to the classroom. They participated in a residency program for teachers in San Francisco at the University of San Francisco where they received a Masters in Education.
Anna worked at public schools in the Mission district of San Francisco for three years before returning to Oakland and teaching at MetWest High School in 2022. They participated in several fellowships, including Knowles Teaching Fellows, as well as math specific trainings, including Complex Instruction. Their favorite subjects to teach are Statistics and Algebra 2!
