Patrick Thomas was about seven minutes into a career in finance when he realized it wasn’t for him, so he jumped at the first opportunity to serve his community as an educator. He now feels grateful to work in a field where he can laugh, overcome challenges, and grow alongside the amazing and inspiring young people of his adopted home of Oakland, CA. Patrick believes that strong relationships are the key to proving to young people that each of them is capable of doing incredible things, and he is thrilled to be part of Latitude’s school community where relationships are at the center of everything!
Prior to joining Latitude, Patrick worked for nine years as a secondary mathematics teacher, department lead, instructional coach, and mentor teacher at Aspire Lionel WIlson College Preparatory Academy in East Oakland. There he had the privilege of learning from Stanford University’s Hollyhock Teaching and Leading Fellowship programs, and he was honored to serve as a mentor teacher to several early career teachers through the ALDER Teacher Residency and Trellis Education programs.
Patrick holds a B.S. in Economics & Finance and a B.S. in Political Science from Texas Christian University. In his free time he loves spending time with his family, reading, backpacking/hiking/camping, watching basketball, cooking, and finding new ways to fail as a gardener.
