Ria Fay-Berquist’s belief in the power of authoring our own stories, and therefore our destinies is at the core of everything she teaches. She has been a project-based media arts, visual arts, and humanities teacher in community-based, continuation, and alternative schools, and an adjunct instructor at the college level. Ria began her teaching career in 2004 in an all-girls multimedia apprenticeship-based learning program in Chicago, and has since taught in Los Angeles, New York and Boston, and was a school leadership resident within High Tech High’s New School Creation fellowship in San Diego. Ria has a master’s degree from The Harvard Graduate School of Education and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was born in San Francisco and now lives in Oakland.
