Leah is an educator who believes wholeheartedly in a student-centered approach to teaching and learning. Growing up as a student in the Los Angeles public schools, she was fortunate to have many teachers that inspired her, paving the way for her passion for teaching. As a new member of the Latitude team, she is incredibly eager to get to know all of the wonderful people that make Latitude the thriving educational space that it is.

Leah is a graduate of UC Berkeley where she studied Global Development Studies with a Minor in Education. Prior to joining the Latitude team, she mentored students at Longfellow Middle School in Berkeley, served as a teaching assistant for an introductory undergraduate education course at Cal, and tutored adults at San Quentin State Prison to help them get their GED. While studying abroad in Santiago, Chile she co-taught English to a cohort of adults, individualizing the class to meet the needs of each student. Most recently, Leah worked as a Site Coordinator for the Reading Partners literacy program at North Oakland Community Charter School, and was grateful for the opportunity to work with elementary students to help them achieve and surpass their reading goals. Throughout all of these educational experiences, Leah has learned the importance of fostering strong relationships with students and families.

In her free time, Leah enjoys playing soccer, running, making playlists, and singing. She strives to bring empathy, positivity and patience to the work that she does.
